Winter happens every year, and they are getting warmer. So, although the airheads on TV are like "Oh, it's so cold out there, 27 degrees," maybe it was actually like 17 degrees this time of year thirty years ago. Some people go around complaining about the cold from 60 and below, and the warmth from 80 and above...not a very competent way to invest in the real physical world.

This, however, may help chk:

Europe could be in for a cold, expensive winter.
Energy markets were shocked Tuesday by the closure of a pipeline in the North Sea and a major explosion at a facility in Austria that helps move natural gas from Russia.

The price of both crude oil and natural gas spiked as investors worried that the vital pieces of infrastructure could be out of commission for weeks, choking off supplies.
Italy, which sources 30% of its gas via the pipeline in Austria, declared a state of emergency....
