If Moore takes the prize, as expected, the Republicans will have to put up with his embarrassing presence in the Senate, unless McConnell makes good on his promise to expel him, which might turn out to be harder than he thinks. Moore's likely to be a millstone around the necks of the party into 2020 and beyond.
And if Jones pulls off a surprise victory, that will also be a win. The kind that will have Republicans worrying about their base, and perhaps about demographic changes in their southern stronghold.
