Trump approval sinks while economy booms (mystery explained)

Keith Boykin
"JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!"

I have been wondering about this. Maybe some Trump fans on here can shed some light?

During the election Trump seemed to tap into a real need among middle class, middle american workers to create JOBS! It seemed as if many of his voters felt they needed a job or a better job or a raise.

For many months Trump has been bragging about how he has fixed the job problem, and created so many new jobs your head is spinning. He brags that your wages are up. He says you are winning so much you must be tired of all this winning.

But - I really doubt the majority of Trump voters have seen any change in the job market. Have you?? Do you Trump fans care? Were they just chanting the age-old demand for more jobs and higher wages, but didn't feel they personally needed either? Are they happy that Trump is bragging about a "Mission Complete" on jobs?

It seems they don't really care. If so - this bodes well for those demanding a tax cut - especially when they don't see any change in their withholding along about Feb 1st. Hopefully they didn't really want a tax cut - they just wanted Trump to say they got one.

So what do you Trump fans think???? Are you happy with Trump saying things are better, or do you really want things to be better?

If none of that really matters - then now is a good time for Trump to move on to fixing F&F!!!! But let's hope he does not fix F&F the way he "fixed" jobs.

Trump has touted the monthly jobs report numbers repeatedly throughout the year, and especially in the past month. Even on Thanksgiving, Trump tweeted: "HAPPY THANKSGIVING, your Country is starting to do really well. Jobs coming back

But the reality is much different from the picture the President paints. In fact, it turns out he is a much better salesman than statistician.

The US economy has created 1.9 million jobs so far this year, according to Trump's own Labor Department. That's not bad, but during the same period, from January through November of last year, the economy created nearly 2.1 million jobs. Trump took office on January 20, 2017, but even if you remove January from the equation, the numbers still favor Obama.

From February to November last year, the economy created 1.96 million jobs. During the same period this year, it created 1.7 million jobs.

Jobs are not "roaring back," as Trump claims. The job market is actually underperforming compared to last year. Average monthly job growth was 190,000 in the first 11 months of 2016, according to BLS. This year BLS figures show it has fallen to 174,000 per month.
