This is a great deal for the yankees, people keep quoting this huge contract what they forget is he has and opt out after year 3. which make the deal even more lunacy for the marlins. Everyone say they saved 300 million (well 265 million), do you think stanton wasn't gonna opt out and go to a winner after a great year in three years and get a ton, he has a good chance of opting out as a yankee, no less a marlin, if the marlins would of just waited it out they could of had his services for three year, and told teams I don't need to trade him because if he was a marlin for just three years and he opts out like everyone would believe he would how much did they actually save, they got no prospects, and traded a NL MVP at 27 on a 3/42 contract. Yes he is making 77 million over the next three years the marlins agreed to pay the yankees 35 million, so they saved a 14 million a year nl mvp, really they could of done better then they did or they didn't have to trade him, at least make the team take all the money or get better prospects back, it is a flat out joke, and this trade should of been overturned for a joke of competivie fairness, you can't even say it is a good salary dump if you think about it, I mean he was probably leaving after 2020 anyways as the marlins continued to surround him with nothing, so they got nothing, and wound up paying what over 40% of his salary that they would have if they kept him over the three years, and they got nothing this isn't jacoby ellsbury here, this is a guy who won the nl mvp for crying out loud. All is just my opinion, and I could always be wrong though.
