And Ephedra alkaloid-containing supplements (aka ma huang) killed 155 and was banned by the FDA. Like kratom it too was a "natural" product. It was touted as a cure for the obesity epidemic. It doesn't matter that it has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for more than 2,000 years...this ain't China.

Clearly more people die each year from obesity than using ephedra. It's illegal nonetheless. IMO kratom will be illegal soon too.
