Thanks jeterman for sharing the great article. I think BLDV is positioning itself in a good market storm as the industry ramps up for the legislation effective date in Canada next year.

To explain further, the news articles are labelling it as consolidation but I believe it is the larger early entry players in Canada that are using their excess resources to buy licensed producers in order to add to their capacity and be ready before July 2018. Consolidation normally happens when an industry is maturing, I think the buyouts are more capacity building in the early stages of a new developing industry.

These established players in Canada realize the opportunity to ramp up capacity now by buying smaller licensed growers as supply will be increasingly in demand next year. They would not have the resources to buy this capacity if their operations were not profitable or if they did not have creditors willing to lend them. Due the extensive regulatory and licensing requirements, licensed growers are the fastest way to build up capacity.

I think BLDV is positioning, literally setting up all the components necessary, to be a successful player and part of this market opportunity with one of its clients, Quality Green, already being licensed and AMS having the capacity to become a large producer once it receives funding approval and then becomes licensed.
