I think the concept could work for local/regional trucks which return to a distribution center where they could be slow charged (better for battery life) each night.
Long haul, I'm more skeptical it could work. Tesla says this concept truck will get 500 - 600 miles between charges? I think Elon Musk is pulling that number out of his ass because it's a number the industry needs to hear. These batteries have the same chemistry as a cell phone battery. My current phone, when I first got it, could go four days without a charge. Now it needs a charge daily. So what's the real performance these batteries will provide after a couple years and a thousand some "supercharging" cycles?
