IE 11 issues - Hanging

Ive solved my issue with this. Found that everytime I open a new tab it was starting another instance if IE running in the background. Not uncommon.

BUT, I found that when I closed the tabs, and eventually IE completely there were still instances running in the background. Viewing through Task Manager I found 13 instances of IE running even though the program itself was not.

Once you get too many instances running you comp/processors cannot handle the load and IE hangs, if not your whole computer.

If your hung, press CTL/ALT/DEL and bring up Task Manager. Look for instances of iexplore.exe (either *32 or *64 depending on what bit youre running).

Click on each instance one at a time, and then the End Process button. Note this will unconditionally close your IE windows but youre hung anyways right!

This has worked for me every time. IE11 and Win 7 Pro. Afterwards I start IE again and all is well:)

Also check this after you close a successful browsing session using IE to see if its leaving instances open.

I have suspicions that it is also related to viewing MSN pages so if that's your home page, or you like to read articles from there, try to do that independently of your other browsing. GL
