That is not quite right. Owners of the stock on June 29 will get the dividend. That was the ex-dividend date. You are referring to the record date, which does not signify WHO gets the dividend, it identifies the exact shares that will get a dividend. Whoever owns those shares at market open on ex-dividend day get the dividend.
So, owning on June 1 is meaningless, unless you ALSO still had them on June 29.
