Christopher Langer of Florida Had Weapons, Explosives Sheriff Says

Christopher Langer was arrested in Florida on weapons charges after authorities responding to a domestic disturbance discovered hundreds of explosive devices and chemicals at a DeBary home on Sunday, according to news release from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, Langer, 31, who was intoxicated at the time, got into an argument with his parents and revealed that he had put an explosive substance inside a grenade.

Deputies responding to reports of the argument questioned Langer about the existence of the grenade and he led them to the backyard, where they found a metal pineapple-style grenade with a paperclip in place to hold the lever and keep it from exploding, the release said.

The house was evacuated and further investigations led to the discovery of about 200 containers inside the house containing powders, acids and other materials, including body fluids, as well as two explosive devices, one which was contained in a Spongebob Squarepants lunchbox.

During his arrest, Langer allegedly told authorities he was "against the system" and harboured anti-government sentiments.

This is not Langer's first encounter with authorities.

According to the report, deputies recently responded to a call and found Langer overdosing on heroin.

"Two weeks ago, we saved your [expletive] life," Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said per the Orlando Sentinel. "And now we're here two weeks later, and you're talking about how you wanted to blow us all up."

Chitwood added that Langer was clearly mentally ill, suffered from a substance-abuse problem and had a hate for the government.

"That domestic violence call probably saved us from making national and international news," Chitwood said, according to CBS News. "He has all the components in there to make a weapon of mass destruction."

Langer was charged with making and possessing a destructive device and was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where he was held on $5,000 bail which, according to police, was later revoked by a judge.
