Yes 61.6% No 38.4%, with 79.3% of eligible Australians participating in the voluntary
survey on same-sex marriage. It was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Excellent participation. Humanitarian friendly result which has just been announced. Yay!

Well done Australia. Equality, mutual respect, a sense of a fair go, came out unequivocal winners.

Now to get it through parliament where a bill, despite the overwhelming vote, will
be opposed by a number of PM Turnbull's Liberal (our main conservative) party.

Mr. Turnbull, who voted Yes, says intent is to do it by the Christmas break.
