Hi Ken, Re: Alarms.........
I guess I could check to see if Schwab can send alerts to my cell phone. However, I don't really use my phone for much other than making calls. That could become quite annoying at times, I imagine.
So far the StockMarketEye software has been easy enough to set up. There was an update this AM that returned the functionality of the "Fundamentals" screen which includes at least: 52 week highs and lows, EPS, P/E, Dividend, Yield %, Book Value, Price/Sales, Price Book and more. Also, clicking on any stock/fund ticker brings into view a price histogram for that stock for any time frame from 1 day to 10 years plus Max. Further, you can add W%R and Accumulation/Distribution to the graph.
So, the software seems to answer the basic need of having a watchlist with alarms that can run on the computer. Further it satisfies some basic things I review when I go to StockCharts.com. Having the fundamental quick info saves heading to either Value Line or MorningStar for that.
You may be right that Verizone's take-over of Yahoo has pressured them to generate revenue from each thing they do. Probably there were lots of software vendors who were piggybacked on Yahoo's signal for free.
