There are gold and diamonds in Sierra Leone. Individuals do make a living panning for it or digging/diving for them.

Sort of like in Colorado or California or Alaska -- there really is gold to be retrieved.
Why don't companies start small and build up. Why didn't SNEY do this?
No need for dredges but only simple sluices with hoses.
Oh well they didn't. They started with big plans with rare earths -- go figure.
