I'm no expert, but I don't see how you can declare a total loss when we've been told we will eventually receive a few cents a share. I have no idea what my loss is or what I can deduct without some paperwork.
If you have some compelling need to take the loss now, you might try asking your broker to buy your shares at $0.01 each. This is out of the ordinary but I once got my broker to do it for me.
