Zab, What you say is all well and true but a recent experience Thursday evening scared the blank out of me.

I was driving back from western Minnesota to the Twin Cities and was driving my car which does not have satellite radio as my wife's car does. Being naturally bored after having a good day birding I turned on the radio. On the AM dial I was only able to get one station. This is common in rural areas of this country and not just in Minnesota and has been true for years. The FM dial does offer a little more choices sometimes but not always.

What bothers me is that the only station in the area was broadcasting some fool who was talking about the dangers of international trade. What seems to be a basis for many of the Trump values. So while the liberal part of the world discusses Trumps most recent stupid move the nationalist anti-rest of the world folks are still telling all of rural America to believe the basis for the point of view of Trump. Rural Minnesota went heavily for Trump in the last election and they are not seeing any reason to change their opinions at this time.

Before the last election all the polls were saying Trump didn't have a chance because of his well less than 50% support. Note how the polls were wrong then. I presume that the 35-40% approval ratings now are equally wrong. The people who got out and voted for Trump and got him into office are still behind him and will get out to vote again in 3 years. The pollsters are not talking to the people who vote.

Think about this and I hope you can prove me wrong in my thinking here.
