The Yankee starters averaging five innings per start in the postseason is just about the same as the average innings per start by the past four American League Championship Series winners (during the ALCS), which has ranged as low as 4.40 inning per start by the 2016 Indians, and as high as 5.33 innings per start by the 2013 Red Sox.

I agree its better to have starters that can go deep in games than not, but it hasnt mattered much to the ALCS winners in recent years.
