It is normal for a partner to make a deal during the time the IP is not fully validated and yet shows promise. That is when smart deals are made. Bavi was primed for a money deal. He knew it. What was his experience with the current BOD? My belief is they wanted up front guarantees or essentially the type of deal that only comes with complete validation of the science and they were/are willing to spend any amount to get there. They are more willing to see Bavi fail at their own hands than see it fail without their full control and the benefits they enjoy through full control.
