That said, if the stock doesn't have a higher volume of trades, I could see the market makers trying to fill those orders if they're within range of the ask and bid.
When I bought back most of my shares recently @ 1.93 I had followed the activity of the MMs and knew that there must be a sweet spot between the bid and ask that they would fill for me, which is why the spread was so high, so I simply played their game until I reached that exact pricing by going up a penny at a time to reach that sweet spot.
One thing that's nice about having hidden orders here and there is that you can at least accumulate more shares than if you "slapped the ask" for 100 share increments, which can get quite expensive if you're paying upwards of a 20%+ premium for just a few hundred shares because that's all that's stacked on the ask and technically available for sale. When the hidden orders clear out that's when the stock becomes expensive and forces some very volatile movement. I can't even imagine what will happen with SGLB stock and it's limited float when there's high demand by institutional investors.
