Many cancers will increasingly be like HIV, chronically treated diseases without a cure, along with an increased cure rate for some cancers.

This explains the FDA accelerated approval of Keytruda to enable immune system control of most solid tumor cancers which also exhibit either of two biomarkers:

a.) microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H)

b.) mismatch repair deficient (dMMR)

(Keytruda is specifically labelled for these solid tumors, regardless of origin, if they lack other successful treatment)

The melanoma tumors of our friend getting experimental treatment with Keytruda supposedly lack either of these two specific markers, if I'm to believe his understanding of what his Doctor told him, so it seems they believe it could be useful in tumors without those biomarkers as well.

This pathway in getting your immune system to control cancer, as it's supposed to, is part of the increasing obvious genetic controls which result in cancer.

It's one thing to resect and destroy cancer tumors and have it come back metastatic due to a few stray cells. But it's spooky to eliminate a cancer completely and watch it come back in exactly the same part of the body, as new normal cells become cancerous through the same genetic breakdown mechanism.
