I Googled Fogo Island News to see if there happened to be any mention of the pending installation of the WindCutters. None so far that I could find. I did find some discussion on wind energy however. For one, the political climate was not always receptive to alternative energy. Until recently, there was legislation opposing it. In an article from 2016, an European manufacturer was proposing a shallow open water horizontal wind turbine system. Didn't see a followup anywhere. One thing is evident on the island; they have fierce winds. I saw wind speeds mentioned at up to 150-225 kilometers per hour. The braking system on the Sauer machine certainly is necessitated for that environment.
