but DTCC may charge clearing firms maintenance fees, and the clearing firm does not want to pay your fee to hold the security in CUSIP form


Very interesting, but why would anyone else other than the company itself be paying cusip fees. I am of an understanding that is a company's responsibility if they want to keep trading and such.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding cusip fees and owner responsibilities to such.
