Dear Colleague:

As the Wall Street Journal noted last week:

"Automakers are rediscovering steel ... by 2025, the amount of lightweight, high-strength steel in a car or light truck in North America is projected to rise to an average 483 pounds, 76% above the 2015 average, according to industry consultancy Ducker Worldwide."

This trend is very good for superalloy metals that help make High Strength, Low Alloy (HSLA) steels -- such as Niobium -- and for projects such as NioCorp's Elk Creek Superalloy Materials Project that plan to produce Niobium. Greater use of HSLA steels with Niobium make vehicles stronger, safer, and more fuel efficient. That helps automakers meet increasingly stringent vehicle emissions standards.

In another development of interest, a recent independent analysis shows that Scandium can deliver revolutionary value in commercial aviation. Scandium is another superalloy metal that NioCorp intends to produce through its Elk Creek Project.

Information on these developments, and much more, can be seen below.  I hope you find these materials useful.

About NioCorp
NioCorp is developing a superalloy materials project in Southeast Nebraska that will produce niobium, scandium, and titanium. Niobium is used to produce superalloys as well as High Strength, Low Alloy ("HSLA") steel, which is a lighter, stronger steel used in automotive, structural, and pipeline applications.  Scandium can be combined with Aluminum to make super-high-performance alloys with increased strength and improved corrosion resistance.  Scandium also is a critical component of advanced solid oxide fuel cells.  Titanium is used in various superalloys and has extensive uses in aerospace, defense, transportation, medical, and other applications. It also is a key component of pigments used in paper, paint and plastics.
