What did Jesus mean when He said to go unto all the world and preach the Gospel? And why did Jesus go so far as to also say that if we are ashamed of Him that He will also be ashamed of us? Thats pretty strong words to think on and i wonder if the two can be put together in some way? As born-again believers are we living our lives in our comfort zone...or...are we stepping out in faith and doing the work that Jesus has commanded us to do? Now...its fantastic that we all witness to folks and do what we can to help bring others to Christ within our family and circle of friends and co-workers...but...just how far are we willing to run with that command of being a light unto the world and how far are we willing to venture? What if here in the United States...our own back yard and community...no one went into the streets and ministered to the homeless, drug addicts, alcoholics...the destitute? What if no one went into the jails and re-hab facilities and told them of the hope and love of Jesus? What if people didnt volunteer their time doing all sorts of things not just for the reason of helping with the task at hand but also using it as a outreach to witness and pray for the lost and hurting? If we dont step out of our comfort zones now and then and go where the lost are...because...they are probably NOT going to be stepping foot in our church...how are these people going to be ministered to? There are different ways that we can be ashamed of Jesus and if we are not telling others of His saving grace is that not in some way being ashamed of Him? And we also need to remember that sometimes not doing what we know we should is as much sin as doing something we know we shouldnt. There are all sorts and types of people that are in all kinds of places that are lost needing to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ...are we doing all we can to reach those people as often as we can? Ministering to the lost in our own hometowns can keep us plenty busy and as followers of Jesus...nothing is more important than reaching the lost! Think about it!
