Breath Taking - News and views from this week and today.

How about these items:

Acting Chairman Pai received a confirmation vote from the U.S. Senate and is now the certified official FCC Chairman for the next 5 years as of last Monday.

Among Pai's first actions this week, following the above, Pai moved $77 million dollars into relief efforts for cell phone services in Puerto Rico, being noted with praise by AT&T among others according to news coverage.

This now makes deciding the license issues a significantly less risky political move, IMO.

NEW Commissioner Brendan Carr has an interesting history in addition to being a close associate of Chairman Pai.

Carr has the following credit in his FCC website posted biography:
"Prior to joining the Commission in 2012, Mr. Carr was an attorney at Wiley Rein LLP, where he worked in the firm's appellate, litigation, and telecom practices. He represented clients in both trial and appellate court proceedings, including complex litigation involving the First Amendment and the Communications Act."

So, looking at Commissioner Carr's historical relationship with Wiley Rein, LLP, we can view names of the current lobbyists for AT&T and find the financial payments reported for the current year at:

Speeches not required, just the facts when they happen to be observed. The votes are what will carry the day, IMO.

OK, who else did we notice was recently appointed to a key position leading the license bureau with a background relationship to AT&T? https://apps.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-345365A1.pdf
