Fwiw, One theory bandied about on the internet is that the Las Vegas event was designed to set the stage for an even bigger follow up event - the assassination of Trump by the Deep State. They can thus get rid of the Donald and get thru some major 2nd Amendment restrictions.
Alex Jones was pushing the 'Deep State will assassinate Trump soon' narrative yesterday, citing ominous statements recently made by Schumer, Al Gore, and others. Who knows with Jones these days, but the theory makes some sense and would quickly accomplish several key goals.
It's hard to imagine the Deep State leaving Trump in for a full term, and impeachment takes forever. Doing 'a JFK' on him has the added benefit of allowing major gun legislation to sail thru Congress unopposed.
