Josh amazingly played a great game. He played stupid, but in the end played the Richard from survivor strategy. Made himself the guy you most wanted to take to the end because he was so hated. Meanwhile, he was a student of the game. His speech was almost genius in comparison to Paul's, and the strategy of outing Paul while taking most of the credit in exit messages turned out to be the difference. He gave each outgoing player the impression he was a part of being a mastermind, while letting people know Paul used them.
I think in the future this will influence the use of exit messages, or should.
Typically, in the end, the jury members are all getting along, but this was not the case. People took this season very personally. I think someone mentioned that Paul acted as bully, and it's true. He was the one who told Josh to go bang pots and told everyone what to do. Truth is, Paul should have easily won the game and would have in so many other seasons. The producers are to blame for selecting players based on personality more than interest in playing the game. Matt, Raven, Kevin, Dominique, Jason.....and more had no business being on the show.
Cody voted for Josh because of his promise early on to never vote for Paul to win. This jury vote was more like our last Presidential election. People were voting AGAINST Paul or Josh.
Paul knew he lost when he saw Elena's vote. He knew both Mark and Cody would vote the same. His face went flush after that as it hit him how close he was.
