+Good discussion tonight. About natural gas. A local power station is making the switch to gas. First they needed a pipeline. Pipelines are about as popular as coal. Gas will work in America, but I understand there aren't enough ships to supply places like Japan. Seems like the real coal market will be overseas. However, coal can be processed and made into gasoline and diesel fuel and jet fuel etc. Just like with wind and solar the technologies to convert coal into other fuels has advanced and is much more efficient than it used to be. Coal's direct use in power generation might not reach the level it once was at, but I think it is way early to write it off even long term. The low sulfur diesel fuel from coal could be blended with high sulfur diesel fuel we can't use in trucks now to reduce the sulfur content in the cheaper high sulfur crude. It aint' over till it's over.
