I was trying to find an article that explains what I am talking about, but can't find it. Most days the short interest is very small, yesterday I think was 253,000 shares. Whenever an MM makes a trade and doesn't have the shares at that moment he's short, but 1 minute later he may cover, but it still shows as a short. Hopefully someone can explain it better than me.
