omg, guess what happened to our friend and neighbor! I have to warn you, I am going to post a graphic pic at the end.
about 2 weeks ago, a very aggressive Great Dane attacked an 80 year old man and close friend/neighbor, in his driveway. Bit his arm twice until the owner got it off of him. Our friend carries a gun but couldn't get to it (in his pocket).
so, there was a court hearing to be heard this past Tuesday about that first attack. well, he and his wife watch our parakeet at their house when we go out of town (if its more than a couple days).. so when I brought her over, the dogs (he has 3, one being a pit bull mix that bit a lady on that street, but did nothing about it, it appears) the dogs went ballistic and sounded like they may get out, so we hurried up and got her(tweetums) in the house.
so, Monday (of this week) he went to get his mail and bam! the dog was on him. bit much of his ear off and punctured his neck. soooooo, after being at the e/r all night (and on blood thinners so bleeding badly) he had the nurse take pics and they showed the judge but still, they only deemed the dog "dangerous" vs "vicious" cause vicious means the dog will be put down. I bet if it happened to the judge or his family, he would have ruled differently. so, with our friend's permission, I contacted our local county supervisor for our district to get the laws changed. did you know there is NO criminal charge for these attacks? its only a civil situation and larry is not looking to sue, he just wants to live his life and be safe. but he welcomes any help or suggestions that bryan and I have, so we are seeing what we can do. our neighbor wants that dog put down so we may be able to get the case reopened, but its up the the idiot judge to even allow it to be reopened or not. we hope to go tomorrow (I will go with him) to file for this.
the dog is in another 10 day quarantine and the shelter said he is very aggressive to them too,(per my convo with an animal control officer there, yesterday) but nothing can be done about it. soon, he will be back home to get back out again. they have some rules to follow but the dog doesn't follow the rules. here is a pic.
