Calculating how many cases in a "Hot Box"

Standard ISO shipping containers are 8ft wide x 8.5ft high x 40ft deep.

Whiskey barrels are usually large enough to store 53 gallons—or 200 liters—of liquor, in which is a pretty standard amount to purchase whiskey. A barrel made for this much alcohol would be about 21 inches by 36 inches in size. The diameter of the belly will be around 26 inches.

Container capacity assumptions are taken from this video:

Our shipping containers can hold a maximum of 3 barrels across and 18 barrels deep (40 x 12 = 480 inches / 26 inches = 18.46 barrels).

Since it appears they are not double stacking them on pallets, the maximum in each container is:

The bottom level can have 54 barrels.

The second level as shown in the video is two across. They horizontally rolled in barrels on top of two standing barrels. That's another 18 barrels.

Lengthwise on top of the third standing row is a maximum of 13 more barrels bringing the container total up to 85 barrels per container.

We must consider this special point.

They are putting 53 gallons of aged bourbon into these barrels and leaving them in there for no more than a year. The angel's share is much less than normal after 8 years.

Soldier I will leave it up to you to tell us how many approximate "maximum" cases will come out of each container.
