There are usually consolidations which can provide good entry or accumulation points. The problem is when they don't reach your bid point prior to the next run starting. For new positions I like to buy half of my desired position at the Ask then low Bid the other half. If it pulls back to my bid then great I got to cost average down, if it runs away at least I have half of a position running and didn't get left behind.
