A minister for the government of ontario held a press conference yesterday stating that they were introducing a zero tolerance for impaired driving for drugs and alcohol. he also said that these new rules would have stiffer penalties for anyone under the influence of any drug. this is obviously a sign that they are going to approve the swab device they tested last year and hope that people pay the fine rather than challenge in court. another wynne money grab. i do not believe the swab will stand up in court but they are going to try since the swab tests for pretty much eveerything including prescription drugs. this is what the government really wants. ontario will be the test case. they also announced fines and or suspensions for refusing to allow police to administer their test. this caveat would not be neccessary for a breathalyzer...only for the invasive swab since they know most, if not, all people would refuse the swab.
