a|44: I'll say this much. The Government needs to do something about the pharmaceutical industry. There is a drug made by Biogen that can halt muscle loss in people with neurological diseases, but it never will be widely available because of the cost. How about $125K a dose. The treatment requires 6 doses the first year--
at a mere total cost of $750,000, and yearly maintenance of 3 doses, which comes to $375,000 a year. Great if you are in the top 1 percent.
Drugs that cure illnesses should be available to all CITIZENS at a reasonable cost, including that Hep C drug which CURES the disease.
In the long run, if these drugs were available to all who need them the long-term savings to the health-care system would be HUGE.
I think our society is cruel to the point of almost being primitive. JMO.
