I lost plenty on penny stocks due to pure (and sometimes foolish) speculation and market scuttlebut and hype. And Pilot Dave is right about these stocks - you need to be able to recognize the signs that indicate pending doom for these stocks and get out while the gettin' is good.
While investing in ABWN could be described as such, the fact that they are still in the development stage with what appears to be a very valid and viable communications technology has me going long on this one, and picking up additional shares where it makes sense. Picked up another 2,600 shares at $1.22 avg pps the other day, and feel good about it.. at least for now.
I'm confident that the 20 plane test will occur, with a favorable outcome. Like you Jennai, I haven't thrown my retirement into this stock either, but plan on this company succeeding over the next 1-2 yrs so patience is required at this point.
On the flip side, ABWN being a penny stock and me being no fool, I have a stop-loss set "just in case"
