Actually nothing that you suggested worked, but they
were enormously helpful suggestions and I tried all
those first- kept getting messages such as: 'system
restore does not seem to be functioning correctly' :
error message 105 when trying to connect to internet..
'volume shadow copy service used by system restore is
not working'.
Was about to give up, then it hit me to try the F9,F10,
F11,F12 keys that flash on at 'computer turn-on' and
F9, (not sure was F9) ask about looking for a restore
point and after clicking 'next', computer testing ensued
with a notice that could take several minutes and
necessitate one or more restarts- however, was over quickly
and computer is back to normal operation.
Note to anyone reading this : suggestions proffered (the
more the merrier) to a "troubled soul" LOL, though they
may not solve the problem immediately, can shorten down
time OR even help determine success or not.
