Just brief note: We are fine, house is OK, cats are great, finally got internet back up. Thanks for all the caring people here.
Below a brief description of Irma's visit.
On Sunday, 9/10, the 57th Anniversary of Hurricane Donna, Irma arrived to Naples with eyes wide open. Staring at us through greedy and bloodshot eyes. She was moving slowly, less than 10 miles an hour, but spinning at near 135 miles an hour. When she got to Naples, after Marco Island, she was tossing objects in the air, anything from pool cages to large 80 year old trees. In our yard, she decimated the fruit trees and others, and threw a large magnolia tree into the pool screen, but having nearly missing the house, we breathed a sigh of relief. Sara, one of our cats, turned her back on the storm after the horizontal rain blew it hardest and fastest for over 2 hours. We were watching the large and small trees around the house getting first bent, then shaken hard, finally yanking them out of the ground and sending them on their way. Not like a tornado, but like a 142 mile an hour wind which it was as Irma was disappointed that more people were not at home.
The next day, Monday we lost all water, the electricity was gone as soon as the hurricane arrived, the day before. Our wonderful Generac generator kicked 1 minute after the power loss and running like a champ, A/C and electricity are working.
On Tuesday, 9/12 we heard from FPL that they expect to restore power to the whole county no later that 10 days from now. We hope to get a refill of our propane tank on Friday, 9/15. Although, our Generac says it can and will run for another 263 hours from now, Tuesday, 9/12, 3 pm.
