Die Copperstone-Mine ist ein Projekt mit reichlich Geschichte. In der Vergangenheit wurden auf dem Projekt im Westen des Bundesstaates Arizona, unweit der Kleinstadt Parker, bereits über 500.000 Unzen Gold gefördert. Zwischen 1987 bis 1993 wurde auf Copperstone im Übertagebau Gold für rund 400 US-Dollar je Unze gefördert. Später dann hat sich American Bonanza auf dem Projekt versucht, ist aber an einem schwierigen Marktumfeld und fürchterlichen Klauseln im Kreditvertrag schlussendlich gescheitert. 2013 war dann auch hier Schluss.

Zu diesem Zeitpunkt trat dann Kerr Mines (TSX: KER; ISIN: CA4924052042) auf die Bildfläche und sicherte sich den Zugriff auf Copperstone. Neues Managementteam sorgt für Renaissance Lange war es auch hier still geblieben, doch das neue Management um CEO Claudio Ciavarella und Chairman Fahad Al-Tahimi schiebt seit Anfang das 2017 das Unternehmen kräftig an. Nachdem man Kerr Mines ordentlich rekapitalisiert hat – jüngst sicherte man sich über 8 Mio. CAD bei Investoren – arbeitet das Team mit Hochdruck an der Ausweitung der bestehenden Ressource von über 440.000 Unzen.

Das Ziel ist es, das Vertrauen in die vorhandene Mineralisierung zu steigern und idealerweise auch deutlich auszudehnen. Schon jetzt liegen auf dem Projekt Phase 1 läuft So hat man bereits Anfang August mit Bohrungen von der Oberfläche begonnen. In Phase 1 plant man rund 15.000 Fuß niederzubringen. Abhängig von den Resultaten ist dann geplant, nahtlos in die zweite Phase überzugehen. Am heutigen Montag hat Kerr Mines nun gemeldet, dass ein Bohrgerät jetzt auch von Untertage in Richtung der „Parallel Foot Wall Zone“ bohrt. Diese ist das Hauptziel der Aktivitäten und soll die bestehende Ressource deutlich erweitern. PFS schon im Q1 2018 Das übergeordnete Ziel ist es, die Ergebnisse in eine aktualisierte Vormachbarkeitsstudie (engl. „Pre-Feasability Study“), die bereits im ersten Quartal 2018 vorgestellt werden soll, einfließen zu lassen.

Entsprechend deren Ergebnis könnte sich Kerr Mines schon früher dazu entschließen, die Produktion auf Copperstone wiederaufzunehmen als von so manchem Branchenkenner erwartet. Einen genauen Zeitplan hierfür gibt allerdings noch nicht. Die Copperstone-Mine verfügt übrigens bereits über alle notwendigen Lizenzen. Da man die Mühle außerdem alle 30-Tage betreibt, sind diese bisher auch nicht verfallen und daher weiterhin gültig. Den Besitz der Lizenzen kann man schwer in Dollar umrechnen, die Zeitersparnis allein dürfte jedoch einen siebenstelligen Betrag alleine wert sein. Noch ist die Wiederaufnahme der Produktion in Arizonas Wüste Zukunftsmusik. Vieles hängt jetzt natürlich von Bohrergebnissen ab, die wir in den nächsten zwei bis drei Wochen erwarten.
