A plunger usually works and I think it is a must have in every household. Just a word of caution, if it is a serious blockage and an older toilet the pressure from a plunger is going to take the path of least resistance and you'll end up blowing out the wax seal that has aged out.

Now you have 3 problems.

You still have the blockage, you need to replace the seal and you need to deal with the rusty bolts holding down the toilet.

Go back the recently posted video on how to deal with rusty bolts. wink

My advice is find a good plumber before you need one.

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few; and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.
