SFM In my opinion, Jeff Bezos has only just begun to lower prices at Whole Foods. He doesn't want to draw government attention by moving to fast. I am very familiar with how consolidation in the food industry works.
We know the Amazon model is to gain dominant market share. Market share comes primarily from low prices.
The entire grocery industry will continue to experience narrowing margins for the foreseeable future- not only from AMZN/WFM but from ALDO, LIDL and WMT- all strong, low price sellers.
Sprouts does not have the wherewithal to sustain compressed margins long term- just look at its cash position.
Sprouts looks like a casualty in waiting.
I am short SFM.
