I don't believe they EVER knew what they were doing. They were in over their heads from day one. They had the opportunity to make themselves and everybody associated with ERHC rich. Nobody is ever going to convince me this was all some calculated scheme. All they did was destroy the company and render the assets almost worthless. I doubt that was done knowingly.

IMO They just had no clue how to run an oil company in the real world and neither did Chrome. What works in Nigeria doesn't work elsewhere.
