For sure!!! My brother (before he died) learned the art of buying high dividend paying stocks. But he would SELL and move on when the fundamentals started to dwindle. For the most part, buy and hold does not work ... meaning buy and hold for a decade or more, even if the dividends are high. If the underlying equity values erodes...what is the point. VLDI may or may not be a great long term play.

But why take the risk when the probabilities are stacked against you. Take 50-70% off the table on a a major VLDI spike (I consider a spike to $1 as major), then let the other 50% ride and see what happens. JMHO.
