Jeff, there is an initial expiration date based on the filing date + 20 years (US/Europe).

Then, if certain conditions are satisfied, a company can file for extension. All delays to commercialisation due to FDA, FCC and other regulatory instances are for instance valid reasons to request an extension.

I think, but am not sure, that 7 years is the maximum. You also need to show that you DID NOT use the patent content in any commercial application (e.g. 7 first years of Bavi patent since filing date).

If this is 2035 that I don't now and never wrote I think. All depends on what PPHM files for.
