Leo Tolstoy, 'War and Peace', and Dan Byrnes

Tolstoy, in the preface to his magnus opus, "War and Peace" he asserted:

"If Napoleon didn't exist, the French would have to invent him"

Essentially, what Tolstoy meant was that the energy of the new status quo- republicanism, meritocracy and incipient fervent nationalism- the French people would have to invent a standard bearer like Napoleon to lead them.

In Dan Byrnes case if Keevil/Currah had not existed, Dan would have to have invented someone like them to blame.

Dan's ill molded character has to blame everything, everyone else for his shortcomings.

Dan blames all the inadequacies of SRSR and his current almost 3 year tenure on someone else.
