Suspected DUI driver crashes Lamborghini after police chase

EDMONDS, Wash. - A suspected drunken driver is under arrest after fleeing from police in a rented 2015 Lamborghini and crashing into another vehicle. His female companion also was arrested, police said.
The drama unfolded at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday as officers were conducting safety emphasis patrols during the Taste of Edmonds event, said Josh McClure of the Edmonds police.
A sergeant spotted the Lamborghini sports car stopped in the middle of Main Street with the 20-year-old female passenger leaning out the window holding a beer. The sergeant attempted to pull over the Lamborghini, but instead the 23-year-old driver accelerated and drove off, McClure said.
The Lamborghini driver then ran several stop signs as other officers tried to pull him over on 5th Avenue. The Lamborghini then accelerated again, leading officers on a pursuit through city streets.
Officers stopped the pursuit due to speed and safety factors. Moments later, the Lamborghini was found a few blocks away at 226th Street SW and Highway 104, where it had crashed into the rear of another vehicle.
The Lamborghini driver and his passenger were both taken into custody. The driver was booked for suspected DUI and for attempting to elude police. The 20-year-old woman was booked on suspicion of being a minor in possession of alcohol, McClure said.
The Lamborghini sustained significant damage. Police said the car had been rented by the driver’s brother for a family event in town earlier in the day.
