Hot off the press from PLM:

Dear PolyMet Supporter,

We have some good news to share about the permits we are seeking to build and operate the PolyMet copper-nickel-precious metals project. Today, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources released six draft water appropriation permits for public review and comment.

These six permits are the first of the major draft permits to be released for public review since we submitted our permit applications in 2016. We anticipate the state will release the remaining draft permits for public review later this summer and fall. The draft water appropriation permits are subject to a 30-day public comment period.

Water appropriation permits are required for industrial or commercial operations that use or withdraw water from a surface or groundwater source. The company has applied for a separate permit related to treating and discharging water. This permit application, as with our other major permit applications, is progressing through the process.
