August 10-Charity, whose father is a retired professor from little Davidson College, emailed an image of a Green Globe artichoke plant that was started from seed in February. Another, in the same bed, isn't as healthy, but it has resumed growing. They do this in August. Maybe both will produce chokes next spring.

I have cleared more weeds and grass from some raised beds. One pile is about 4 ft high. It will all be composted.

I checked on the Moon & Stars watermelons and picked one that only grew to ice box size. It was ready, and it was sweeter than the heirloom strain of Sugar Baby I got from Baker Creek.

I am trying to motivate myself for a bus ride to Renfrow Hardware in Matthews. It has the best seed collection.

The Russian Pickling cucumber seeds I sowed last week have germinated.

The Nasdaq's third tier, the AMEX can be just as bad, and last but not least, the OTC, it seems, are financial venues that reward failure.
