Never forget the first time I heard 'Gentle On My Mind'. Knew it would be a hit.
Those were the days I was in NYC writing songs.
I did a slightly similar song, as a response back in that time frame. Will post the lyrics one day, for fun, when I can find them.
Have an acetate of the demo of it here somewhere too. Hired some quality musicians and recorded with my pal who played bass later with me, with Jesse Winchester, as I then played drums. He sang it.
We recorded it in a studio that supported the music scene around the Times Square-Brill Building area back in the late sixties.
