Did you not read or listen to the news yesterday or today.

HE DOES NOT GET IT because his Commission wanted him to declare this a "national emergency" and he did not do so. Instead, he has claimed this is a problem for law enforcement (see below)

President Trump stressed law enforcement as he talked about the nation's opioid problem Tuesday, emphasizing an approach that was not addressed in a report released last week by the special commission he appointed to combat opioid abuse.

"At the end of 2016, there were 23% fewer federal prosecutions than in 2011, so they looked at this surge and they let it go by,” Trump told reporters from the clubhouse of the golf club. “We're not letting it go by.”

"Strong law enforcement is absolutely vital to having a drug-free society," Trump said. "I have had the opportunity to hear from many on the front lines of the opioid epidemic, and I'm confidant that by working with our healthcare and law enforcement experts we will fight this deadly epidemic and the United States will win."

I had to inject race or other issues into the debate, but as a friend of mine said the other day:

"When opioids abuse or overdosing involve White people, it is considered a drug epidemic that requires medical treatment; when it involves Blacks, Latinos, or other minorities, it is a crime issue that requires imprisonments and tougher sentencing"

I doubt that the President will allocate funding to save Calmare before he pushes for more jails and harsher sentencing and is unwillingness to view the issue as an emergency or crisis seems to verify this point.

It is is a crisis and as was noted on the news yesterday one aided by doctors (Doctors from the best med school averaged about 180 opioid prescriptions per year and those from lesser schools averaged 550 per yea, i.e., three times as many per doctor. How many of those physicians will send their patients to a Calmare clinic let alone buy and learn to use the device when they will earn more per visit for writing a scrip?

Meantime, will it matter to Calmare, because they are on life-support and need more than a Calmare treatment
