August 8=I guess Charity got my email address wrong. She went out to where I have six Persian basil plants growing, healthy ones. I copied an image off the internet. The plants produce a flower bud at the apical meristem you have to snip off to make the plant produce more side shoots.
Meanwhile, more rain overnight. Too wet to dig up weeds and spent cantaloupe vines. I figure I picked about 25 Jenny Linds in the past 3 days. They have done well for themselves. The Charentais were a bust. Melons are fussy.
More brassica seedlings appeared this morning and when I got home this afternoon. The count is approaching 50, with more on the way.
The sunflowers are done for the year. I remove at least one stalk a day.
The Persian cucumbers have put out true leaves. It will soon be time to set up the fencing I use for a trellis.
