Cheap new tiny car Baojun E100 is GM’s China star

Forget the SmartCar, the Tata Nano in India or much-touted but non-existent Elio. Welcome the Baojun E100, China’s new electric tiny car.

The new two-seat city cruiser, which has a wheelbase of 62.9 inches — about 11 inches shorter than the SmartForTwo — has a 96-mile range and will accelerate to 62 miles per hour with its single electric motor that generates 39 horsepower. Its lithium-ion battery pack charges in about 7 1/2 hours.
